Note 1: The hologram example shown in 12-11.8 (human face) is not a synthetic polymer button. It is the same hologram example shown in the NBS Synthetic Polymers Handbook, reference 2 but was misidentified as explained by Jocelyn Howells in reference 3. According to reference 3, the example shown here is actually a glass disk with a hologram film applied to the back behind which is a glued plastic shank. A clear epoxy coating applied to the rim and back resulted in the misidentification.
